For its creation, the already well-known 2.0 TSI 4-cylinder gasoline engine has been used , but adjusting its power to 207 CV (7 CV more than its predecessor), being able to develop 320 Nm of maximum torque .
This engine has been associated with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox , being able to reach 240 km/h top speed and going from standstill to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds.
The set has been made on the modular platform of the MQB group and has a specially designed running gear that has been called ” Sport Select ” and has two configurators to adjust the damping.
Its new running gear incorporates an increased stabilizer bar on the front axle , stiffer bearings for the axle guide at the rear and much stiffer connecting rods at the front .
To avoid driving out of control in more extreme situations, the car has been equipped with the XDS differential lock that controls the braking pressure of the inside front wheel in curves in order to perfect traction at all times.
The adjustable driving modes available to the new Polo GTI are capable of adjusting various parameters on the direction, engine operation and gearbox, and are as follows:
- ECO mode , which seeks to minimize consumption by optimizing air conditioning, engine management and some other mechanical groups, also allowing a function of displacement by inertia (gliding) in the DSG gearbox that is capable of being disconnected for a circulation in neutral, so that there is a significant reduction in consumption.
- Individual mode , with which all the parameters are adjusted on a personal level and according to the tastes of the driver.
